There are two ways to travel to Geneve from Amsterdam: a night trip, and a daytrip.

Nighttrain
Route: ~8hr | Amsterdam - Paris (Thalys) - Geneve |
- Through France: keep an eye out for strikes
- Paris: leave at least 2 hours to get from Paris Nord to Gare de Lyon to catch the TGV to Geneva on the RATP
- Paris to Gare the Lyon:
- Metro B Sud towards Robinson / Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse > Metro A at Chatelettes les Halles towards Marne la Vallée / Boissy-St-Léger
or: - Metro D directly towards Corbeil Essones, Melun, Malesherbes
- It takes ~30 minutes on tram 18 from Geneva Central station to CERN
Daytrip
Route: ~ 16hr | Amsterdam - Basel (ÖBB Nightjet) - Bern - Geneve |
- Trains are often delayed. You will be reimbursed when your train is cancelled and you have to book a new ticket/hotel. When in doubt, get in touch with Karin Matthesius.
- Book via Deutsche Bahn and include the Swiss part to cut expenses
- Take extra time for your connection in Basel, seeing as delays are quite common.
